Alexandru Gumaniuc is a 27 years old young man who lives in a small town named Hincesti which is 50 km away from Chisinau, capital of the Republic of Moldova. 8 years ago Alexandru had a terrible accident after which he was diagnosed with spinal cord trauma. At the moment, Alexandru is fully reliant on a wheelchair. Despite, Alexandru describes himself as a joyful and optimistic person eager to learn many things especially in IT field. Throughout his life Alexandru surpassed many obstacles and is not afraid to face other that may arise, only to reach his goal in life: to find employment as IT specialist.
Because vocational schools are not adapted in Moldova, Alexandru has not been able to continue professional education. However Alexandru studied independently being passionate about the field of IT. Seeking a permanent occupation, he worked for a short period as web-page administrator in his hometown Hincesti.
Seeking both more challenge and enhanced opportunity Alexandru participated in training on vocational orientation organized in 2013 and 2014 by SOIR Moldova partner organisation Motivatie. After the training, Alexandru has received all the support of Motivatie in accessing vocational education and further support in finding a full time job in the open labour market.
Assisted by Motivatie, Alexandru had the opportunity to attend professional courses in IT. Following this, Alexandru have sent his CV to various national companies working in IT field. In result, one of the leading IT company in June 2014 has employed Alexandru as system administrator and customer relation manager. His duties are to administrate several web-sites and answer phone calls of persons who need assistance in solving problems of accessing the online store.
Outside of work, Alexandru likes to stay busy and is involved in a variety of activities including sports, advocacy activities thus promoting rights of persons with disabilities at local and national level jointly with other peers and lead by Motivatie. Alexandru is enjoying the independence of gaining a living by work. Alexandru is feeling accomplished since he is working and building a career in a company that is very well positioned on Moldovan market. In return, the company has acquired a very strong IT specialist with lots of growing capacities. His coworkers appreciate his hard work, dedication and willingness to help.
